The ActionDignity Edge
ActionDignity’s mission is to work together with ethnocultural, racialized, and equity-seeking groups to create transformational changes in our communities and society.
ActionDignity’s strength lies in engaging and empowering racialized grassroots leaders and community members to design and deliver culturally appropriate initiatives that better their community members’ lives and advocate for more equitable systems. Examples include enhancing community members’ access to services, empowering people to participate fully in civic activities, enriching the lives of community members, and advocating for policy change at the systems level. The cornerstones of our approach are our Platform Strategy and Broker Strategy.
Our Platform Strategy is used to foster a network of racialized community groups and individuals that can learn together, attract resources, exert influence, and carry out actions for goals we have in common.
Our Broker Strategy trains and temporarily employs racialized community members who are deeply engaged in their communities to engage others, ensure culturally appropriate initiatives, bridge community members with decision-makers or service providers, conduct research, and support community-led actions and advocacy work. ActionDignity has always pursued and supported projects that advance ActionDignity’s mission and that are priorities for ethnocultural, racialized groups, communities, or organizations. We have strong connections and working relationships with funders, policymakers, and other service providers that ethnocultural communities need to engage with to influence change.
Our Theory of Change
We aim to design and deploy ways of working that boost collective impact by:
- Building Civic Infrastructure: To enable racialized minorities to become engaged citizens.
- Empowering Grassroots Social Change Agents: To build community through collective problem-solving.
- Convening Impactful Collaborations: To facilitate cooperation and collectivization of voices and efforts.
- Catalyzing Collective Impact: To catalyze systems change by enabling the deployment of a range of diverse and innovative initiatives.
Engage with Us
Building Civic Infrastructure
- Connect with other community members through the monthly Community Conversation Circles, a safe space for racialized people to voice their lived and living experiences, and collaborate with other ethnocultural groups and organizations.
- Join our celebrations and events to gain an understanding of historical context and social issues to inform actions.
- Attend peer and natural support training and community of practice.
- Connect with appropriate agencies that will meet your individual and family needs.
- Join our Community Leadership Team or Community Steering Committees to inform program strategies.
Building Capacity of Social Change Agents
- Sign up for free Leadership training to enhance your communication, decision-making, conflict resolution, and teamwork skills and to improve your organizational sustainability and effectiveness and improve the service delivery of your organization.
- Attend Capacity-building courses on anti-racism, domestic violence, public safety, social exclusion and mental health. Join us for a guided development of community action plans to address your community needs.

Community Collaboration
- Join our GrOW-Platform to expand connections with like-minded individuals, organizations, and communities to collaborate & share resources on collective efforts for social change.
- Many challenges in our communities are multifaceted and require a collaborative approach. Be a partner organization of ActionDignity and join the collaboration among partner organizations facilitated by ActionDignity to foster a sense of unity and collective responsibility, creating resilient communities that can adapt and respond effectively to systemic issues.
