Korok Society and Canadian Centre for Integrated Health and Social Services Lead Antiracism Workshop as Part of ActionDignity’s CORE Project

In a recent collaboration, the Canadian Centre for Integrated Health and Social Services (CCIHSS) partnered with the Korok Society to deliver a powerful antiracism workshop, a key initiative within ActionDignity’s Collaboration and Commitment towards Racial Equity (CORE) Project. This workshop aimed to address systemic barriers faced by racialized communities in Canada and foster education on how these barriers continue to persist.

As part of ActionDignity’s CORE project, which supports grassroots efforts to advance racial equity, the workshop played a vital role in promoting awareness and solutions. CCIHSS bridges the gap between health and social services by enhancing accessibility, promoting education, and addressing determinants of health to improve the overall well-being of racialized, immigrant, Indigenous, and marginalized populations. The Korok Society also shares this mission, empowering vulnerable groups, including racialized individuals, the elderly, women, and youth, through educational initiatives and awareness campaigns.

During the workshop, participants were introduced to key concepts such as race, racialization, and racism in both historical and contemporary contexts, demonstrating how systemic racism is maintained today. Discussions also covered privilege and intersectionality, examining how different forms of oppression overlap to create distinct challenges for marginalized communities.

The workshop, which attracted about 40 participants, including ActionDignity CORE project staff, provided valuable tools for recognizing and addressing racism, encouraging attendees to take action and become antiracist advocates.
