Celebrating International Women’s Day: Spotlight on Change
Last night, over 160 attendees gathered to celebrate International Women’s Day at an event themed Spotlight on Change: Empowering Women, Advancing Equality, Creating Opportunities. The evening was a powerful tribute to the resilience, strength, and contributions of women, particularly those from racialized and immigrant backgrounds.
A highlight of the event was a keynote address centered on the in-progress storybook, Untold Stories of Racialized Immigrant Women. The keynote speaker, Sharmila Ranabhat, shed light on the challenges and resilience of racialized immigrant women. Her words were a powerful reminder of the strength in every woman’s journey and the urge to address systemic barriers impacting racialized immigrant women.
The celebration also featured women’s organizations showcases and dynamic dance performances, adding a cultural and artistic vibrancy to the night.
The event served as a meaningful platform to recognize women’s achievements and spark conversations about continued progress. As we reflect on the evening’s themes, we remain committed to fostering a future where every woman’s voice is heard and valued.
