Bridging Legal Gaps Launched with Strong Community Momentum
We’re off to a strong start! The community engagement of our Bridging Legal Gaps through a Community-led Approach (BLG) project is growing every step of the way.
So far, 22 member organizations and over 70 individuals have taken part in BLG activities, showing a clear demand for community-led legal education and support.
Thank you to everyone who participated in our community engagement meetings and community conversation circles. These sessions created safe spaces for caregivers, youth, temporary foreign workers, and skilled workers to share their immigration journeys and the challenges they’ve faced as racialized workers.
One young participant reflected:
“I despised the time when my mom brought us to Canada. I never understood why we had to be here, and I even felt more resentful about working the same job as my mom.”
From discrimination to the stigma that silences many from speaking up about their legal struggles, the stories shared are raw, honest, and deeply necessary in shaping our collective path forward.
