ActionDignity in partnership with Migrante Alberta Organized an Immigration Forum

On November 16, 2024, the ActionDignity office buzzed with energy as 46 workers and community leaders came together for the Immigration Forum organized by ActionDignity and Migrante Alberta. The forum discussed immigration issues faced by immigrant/migrant workers and their families and the current changes in International Student pathways to permanent residency.

The forum featured Jatin Shory, an immigration lawyer from Shory Law LLP, who broke down the complexities of immigration policies and offered practical advice to those navigating their way to permanent residency. His insights gave attendees a clearer understanding of the process and the possibilities it holds.

ActionDignity’s Strategy Lead of Workers’ Rights program, Paban Adhikary tied the program to ActionDignity’s broader outcomes and reflected on how this forum built upon earlier conversations with workers in the community. His words underscored the collective efforts to create meaningful change.

The participants, many sharing their own experiences and challenges, left feeling supported and motivated. It was more than just an event—it was a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience of the migrant community.
