Zena’s Why: As a Muslim youth passionate about mental health advocacy, I use various forms of artwork to express my thoughts and perspectives on mental health and to address the stigma that still exists in our communities. Through my work, I hope to connect with others—to show them they are not alone—and to encourage collective advocacy for the care and support everyone deserves. By exploring mental health through an Islamic lens, I aim to highlight the strength and beauty found in spiritual practices like dhikr (remembrance of Allah) during times of adversity. I hope my art inspires others—especially Muslim youth—to understand that turning to faith is neither a weakness nor a denial of struggle, but rather a powerful and beautiful way to face challenges with hope, connection, and purpose.
