ActionDignity Welcomes IRCC Officials for Project Updates and Collaborative Discussion

ActionDignity was honoured to welcome representatives from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for two recent visits focused on learning about the progress, impact, and emerging insights from our Brokers Bridge Builder (BBB) Project.

These visits provided valuable opportunities to share project updates, explore community experiences, and strengthen collaboration among partners working to improve settlement outcomes for newcomer communities.

The first visit brought together members of the IRCC Settlement Team, including Director Melanie Holmgren, Assistant Director Yann Legrand, Manager Alex Racine, and Language Supervisor Kerry Morgan. During their visit, ActionDignity shared updates on the BBB Project’s progress, early outcomes, and community impact.

Discussions highlighted the importance of community engagement, cross-sector collaboration, and systems innovation in improving access to settlement services. The conversation underscored the value of working alongside community organizations, service providers, and newcomers to create more inclusive, responsive, and equitable support systems.

On June 12, ActionDignity welcomed Sukhjeet Dhaliwal, Issues Management Officer with IRCC, for a collaborative discussion focused on reviewing and interpreting community data gathered through the BBB Project.

Together with valued partners from the Newcomer Research Network and Habitus Collective, participants engaged in a meaningful sense-making exercise facilitated by Habitus and the BBB Project team. The session examined both qualitative and quantitative data collected from community members, helping participants deepen their understanding of newcomer experiences, identify emerging trends, and explore opportunities for future action.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the IRCC representatives, the Newcomer Research Network, Habitus Collective, for their engagement, expertise, and commitment to strengthening outcomes for newcomer communities. We look forward to continuing this important work together as we build bridges, strengthen connections, and advance more inclusive systems that support newcomer success and belonging.
