Seeds of Change Anti-Racism Training Project Completed Module 3 in April

ActionDignity’s Seeds of Change Anti-Racism Training project continued its momentum in April. Participants across four cohorts engaged in powerful learning and reflection through Module 3: Settler Colonialism and Anti-Indigenous Racism.

The learning explored the ongoing impacts of settler colonialism on Turtle Island (North America) and further developed their understanding of the relationships, responsibilities, and realities connected to the land we live on.

Through interactive and reflective activities, participants had the opportunity to:

  • Connect with the history of the land, including creation stories
  • Examine the texts of Treaty 7 signed on September 22, 1877
  • Compare and contrast the provisions made to Indigenous peoples and to the Crown/Canadian government
  • Create and share their own land acknowledgement poems

Learning the history of how colonialism impacted this land and the First Nations’ peoples is an important step toward reconciliation and transformational change.
