Last Friday, ActionDignity hosted an inspiring and educational evening with over 100 participants from funders and communities at our GrOW (Grassroots Organizational Empowerment) Platform Knowledge Mobilization event. This event highlighted the findings from our GrOW Platform evaluation and fostered meaningful conversations on how the GrOW initiative and funders can better support our ethnocultural organizations.
The event featured impactful stories from community leaders Dr. Dami Adingupu from The MarriageAdvocates Canada, Huan Tran from the Calgary Vietnamese Mental Health Support Association and Jun Cacayuran from the Alberta Fil-Can Community Leaders’ Association (AFCLA) G10+. Their stories showcased the significant impact of the GrOW initiative within their communities.

The evening also included a panel discussion where our guest speaker Savera Hayat from United Way of Calgary and Area and Julie Black from Calgary Foundation shared their valuable insights into the funding landscape and trends for the next five years, offering guidance to grassroots organizations on navigating these changes.

We were honored by the presence and support of Lisette Tejada from the Legislative Assembly of Alberta and Ariana Kipper from the Ward 9 Councilor’s office. Their attendance underscored the importance of our collective efforts in supporting ethnocultural communities.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our funders, United Way of Calgary and Area, and Suncor, for making this transformative project possible.
