On June 24 and 26, ActionDignity hosted a Justice Navigator Training with 30 participants from 20 member organizations, marking a significant step in our ongoing efforts to tackle systemic legal access barriers faced by racialized communities.
While legal resources do exist, many individuals continue to face challenges in accessing them due to language and cultural barriers, a lack of awareness of their rights, and a legal system that often feels overwhelming and inaccessible. This training was designed to address those challenges by building the capacity of trusted community leaders.
The two-day session culminated in a moving and insightful reflection activity titled “My Story: A Reflection on Rights, Violations, and Remedies.” Participants shared personal and community experiences with the justice system, reflected on systemic barriers, and explored strategies for navigating and overcoming them.
Graduates of the training are now stepping forward as Justice Navigators (Natural Supports)—trusted leaders equipped to guide their communities with culturally relevant and accessible legal knowledge. These Justice Navigators will act as bridges, helping their communities understand their rights, access available resources, and find pathways through the legal system with dignity and support.
This initiative is part of ActionDignity’s broader mission to advance justice and equity by empowering grassroots leadership and strengthening systems navigation in racialized communities.
