Following a recent evaluation, ActionDignity is charting an exciting new path for youth programming. By bringing together the TD BLACK, RBC Youth PLACE 2, Y-Justice, and Youth WEAVE projects, our initiatives are designed to inspire engagement, strengthen community connections, build leadership capacity, and drive systems change.
Youth Systems Change and Policy Advocacy Training
Over the past few weeks, youth participants have been delving into how systems work, how change occurs, and how advocacy can drive meaningful impact. These sessions are equipping young leaders with the tools to connect community challenges with broader systemic structures—and to reimagine a more equitable Calgary.

🤝 Youth Speed Mentorship Event
Youth had the opportunity to expand their social and professional networks through peer and mentor conversations. Guided by older racialized youth in diverse fields, participants gained valuable insights, support, and encouragement to navigate their own journeys. Additionally, youth mentors and mentees (Ages 12-27) had guided discussions surrounding systems change, common challenges, education, and resources. Youth mentees said they left the events with a sense of relatability; seeing older racialized youth who look like them flourishing in their fields, and empowerment.

📑 Grant Building Workshop
The grant building workshop was facilitated by our youth volunteer, Hannah Abayneh. Youth participants learned how to identify systemic issues, develop Community Action Plans (CAPs) that address the issue, and access funding opportunities. The workshop included an ice breaker, peer discussion and a review of the guide developed by our youth volunteer. Participants noted the event as helpful and necessary, and they felt empowered through ownership of their own ideas that positively impact their communities

Together, these initiatives are cultivating a new generation of leaders who are ready to challenge barriers, advocate for equity, and create lasting change. Stay tuned for more events.
