DESCRIPTION:This panel discussion is organized by Family Advocacy Support Centre.nnJoin the activity during Access to Justice Week for an in-depth conversation on the ongoing issue of newborn apprehensions in Alberta. While the practice of birth alerts officially ended in 2019 parents across the province still face the devastating reality of having their newborns removed at birth—often with far-reaching effects on maternal mental health families and communitiesnnFeaturing a diverse panel of parents with lived experience as well as professionals in healthcare and legal sectors this event will examine why these practices persist how they represent a critical access to justice issue and what changes are needed to achieve systemic transformation.
