The Gender Equity Peer and Natural Support Training, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at empowering diverse male peers, concluded with great success recently. Participants hailing from Afghan, Pakistani, Indian, Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, Nigerian, Filipino, Ethiopian, South Sudanese, Kashmir, Nepali, and Latino communities have completed a comprehensive six-session training program.

These individuals are now equipped to play pivotal roles as natural supports in existing gender-based violence (GBV) interventions tailored for men and boys within their respective communities.
Natural support is identified as a cornerstone in effective GBV intervention. By cultivating networks of understanding and empathy within these diverse communities, our trained participants are poised to make significant contributions to the creation of safer spaces, the promotion of awareness, and the dismantling of barriers surrounding gender-based violence.
“This training really opened my eyes to gender-based violence. I learned that not everyone realizes they’re involved, and trying to help without knowing can sometimes do more harm than good. I’m glad I now have the knowledge to offer better support to people who need it.”- Duc Hoang
“ActionDignity’s training about domestic/gender-based violence for men was not only essential; it was truly engaging and inspiring to overcome patriarchal stereotypes. I recommend scaling up this training to immigrants to help them cope with successful adaptation and lead a thriving family/ community life in Canada.”- Tsegay Gebrelibanos
“With all the new information about the program that I am sharing with my community, I believe they will become aware of it and gain an understanding of the gender equity related subjects involved. This will help them to address challenges and adapt to changes in their lives.”- Mohammad Dawod Farhad
