ActionDignity Celebrates International Women’s Day with Community Learning and Dialogue

On March 6, ActionDignity welcomed community members for a meaningful celebration of International Women’s Day, bringing together women and allies to recognize and honour the many contributions women make to their communities. The event created a space for learning, dialogue, and connection, highlighting the resilience, leadership, and strength of women across diverse communities.

The gathering featured three rotating learning sessions designed to provide participants with practical knowledge and resources. The sessions focused on legal rights for newcomer women, culturally informed conflict navigation, and how to start a community initiative. Through these interactive discussions, participants and facilitators shared lived experiences, explored key challenges, and exchanged strategies for strengthening community leadership and empowerment.

The event was honoured by a keynote address from Dr. Motilola Akinfemisoye-Adejare of the University of Calgary, who spoke about the importance of recognizing women’s contributions and advancing opportunities for women’s leadership in communities.
