Systems Change

Our Theory of Change

The four pillars that guide our work, and how they come to life through community activities.

1. Strengthen Civic Participation

We make it easier for racialized groups to get involved in civic life, influence decisions, and make their voices heard.

Activities:
• Community Conversation Circles (CCC) to share lived experiences
• Peer support groups led by and for community members
• Grassroots advisory groups
and steering committees
• Events to address immediate needs
and barriers
• Public education initiatives to grow civic knowledge and participation

2. Build Community
Leaders' Capacity

We provide community leaders with the training and support they need to build on their strengths and lead change with greater impact.

Activities:
• Systems leadership training programs
• Peer support networks
• Workshops to grow knowledge and capacity
• Guidance in policy advocacy
and systems change

3. Bring Voices Together

We help people and organizations align their efforts, share what works, and turn collaboration into impact.

Activities:
• Community-based research projects
• Policy-focused engagement sessions
• Surveys to surface shared concerns
• Systems maps showing how issues connect
• Community action plans

4. Drive Collective Change

We connect diverse communities and partners to launch new initiatives that create lasting, systems-level change.

Activities:
• Cornerstone events spotlighting
community voices
• Long-term partnerships with service
providers and funders
• Cross-program projects that build shared solutions
• Campaigns and initiatives for policy and systems change
• Public education on systemic racism, systems change, and collective action

Areas of Change

These pillars drive our six areas of transformation, where programs and campaigns create ripple effects across Calgary and beyond.
