Building Bridges: Public Education on CPS Race-Based Data Analysis

Last Friday, over 120 community members came together for our Public Education session on the Calgary Police Service (CPS) Race-Based Data Analysis. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated in this meaningful conversation.

During the event, we explored the findings from the recently released CPS race-based data and had a conversation on how to address the disparities revealed in the data and how the community and police can work together to create a safer and more inclusive environment for everyone.

A special thank you to the Calgary Police Service for presenting the data insights and reflections, and to our incredible panelists for amplifying community voices: Khor Top from Komkan Africana Institute – South Sudanese Community, Elder Linda Johnson, Cree Elder, Widad Eltahir – Sudanese Community, Fauzia Khedir from Immigrant Learning Moms – Afghan Community.

Transparent and equitable dialogue is the foundation for solutions. This session marks the beginning of a longer journey toward fostering an inclusive community where dignity and respect are at the forefront. Let’s continue this important work together.
