ActionDignity hosted its 2024 Annual General Meeting and Community Event on June 20, 2024. Over 130 participants including members, partners, funders, donors, staff and volunteers joined us. The evening highlighted the organization’s achievements and future plans, reflecting on the theme “Shifting Mindsets: Changing Systems.”
The key agenda items of the event included the approval of the 2023 AGM minutes, approval of 2023-2024 audited financial statements, approval of the 2024-2025 auditor, adoption of new bylaws, and election of Board Directors. Our Executive Director Francis Boakye emphasized the year’s accomplishments and strategic work in systems change in his report.
Following the board business, the community event featured reflections from leaders of various ethnocultural organizations, discussing how shifting mindsets can lead to systematic change. Notable speakers included Natacha Pierre from Alberta Haiti Cultural and Sports Club, Cesar Cala from Filipino Rising for Inclusion, Equity to Nurture Democracy, Ang’er Ruay Deng – South Sudanese Canadian Association of Calgary and Elizabeth Vigueras from Mexican, Latino and Cross-cultural Society. Ten other member organizations also showcased their amazing works, further emphasizing the collective effort in fostering a more inclusive community.
